Ather posts ₹1.26 crore profit and approves ₹122 crore expansion
The electric scooter maker earned ₹1.26 crore in the September quarter, reversing a ₹154.07 crore loss a year earlier. Revenue rose 63% to ₹1,464.24 crore as vehicle sales climbed 42%, while its board approved ₹122 crore to expand production. The Hosur addition is due by December 2026, with a larger Maharashtra expansion planned later.

A ₹1.26 crore profit marks a slim turnaround for Ather Energy, which lost ₹154.07 crore in the same quarter last year. The Bengaluru-based electric scooter maker’s revenue from operations rose 63% to ₹1,464.24 crore in the three months to September. Vehicle sales increased 42% to 93,211. Its board also approved about ₹122 crore to expand production at two factories. 12
Those 93,211 scooters helped lift Ather’s EBITDA, a measure of business earnings before interest, taxes and other costs, to ₹74.17 crore. A year earlier, it had recorded a loss of ₹90.76 crore. The company said its improved margins came from product mix and pricing, despite higher costs for materials such as aluminium and copper. Revenue from subscriptions, charging, accessories and services reached 15% of operating revenue, up from 12%. 17
That 15% share matters as Ather tries to turn rising demand into lasting profits, rather than relying on scooter sales alone. Still, its net profit was narrow: Ather reported ₹62.71 crore in other income, while its half-year loss stood at ₹49.83 crore. Its Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu ran at 98% of capacity during peak production. The expansion could ease that bottleneck, but the company must also manage costs and get its new factory running. 41113
That bottleneck is why the company plans to add 75,000 units of annual capacity at Hosur, taking it to 4.95 lakh by December 2026. Its Factory 3.0, under construction in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, is set to grow from a planned 5 lakh units to 6.5 lakh. That addition is due in Q2 FY28. Together, the factories are expected to reach about 11.45 lakh units of annual capacity. 510
