Rubio Says Ukraine’s Paid Interceptors May Still Be Undelivered
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said a batch of interceptors bought for Ukraine through a NATO-backed program may not have arrived. He denied any deliberate order to harm Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy raised the missile delay, satellite limits and gaps in attack warnings with Rubio on Tuesday, as Kyiv seeks protection from Russian strikes.

A batch of interceptors bought for Ukraine may still be undelivered, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Tuesday. Asked about the shipment, Rubio said it could be true that the weapons had not arrived, but denied any deliberate order to harm Ukraine. His comment partly backs Kyiv’s complaint about delayed weapons, without explaining the delay or saying when the missiles might reach Ukraine. 7
The batch was part of a wider dispute President Volodymyr Zelenskyy raised with Rubio on Tuesday. Zelenskyy said they discussed Patriot interceptors, early warnings of Russian ballistic missile attacks, and limits affecting Starlink and Starshield, the satellite services Ukraine uses. Earlier, he told US senators that Ukraine had missed early warnings three times in the previous week and that paid-for missiles were awaiting approval from Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth. 35
Those paid-for missiles matter because Ukraine relies on Patriot interceptors to defend cities from Russian ballistic attacks, while early warnings give people and air defences time to respond. Zelenskyy says the US has not fully explained the warning gaps or satellite limits. US officials have disputed parts of Kyiv’s account: Rubio denied that Washington had stopped sharing intelligence and said there was no deliberate move to hurt Ukraine. The public record leaves both the causes and timing of any deliveries unresolved. 357
The unresolved shipment now sits alongside Zelenskyy’s request for Washington to restore satellite access and provide missile warnings. He called his conversation with Rubio constructive and said they had agreed to speak again soon, but announced no fix or delivery date. Rubio’s acknowledgment confirms that a shipment may be missing; the next concrete step is for the US government to clarify its status and whether Hegseth will approve it. 210
