Two Dead After Gunman Attacks Citibank Campus Near Tampa

A security guard confronted a gunman in a Citibank cafeteria, ending an attack that killed two people, including the suspect. The guard was injured, and four others were treated at a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Frank Losat said. The attack began around 12:11 p.m. Wednesday, when 911 calls reported gunfire at the campus in Brandon, east of Tampa. Investigators said the driver crossed medians and grass, broke through a secure fence and crashed near an outdoor dining area. He got out carrying a rifle and shot a woman sitting outside. Those four injured people were among thousands working at a campus of office buildings. About 3,200 employees were on the property, officials said, while sheriff’s deputies and specialist teams searched and cleared the buildings. Sheriff Chad Chronister called the attack targeted, but authorities have not released a motive or said whether the suspect and the woman knew each other.
